A few weeks have passed since our sailing on the Carnival Legend, and I am debating if I would sail with Carnival or on this ship again. We were not new to cruising, but new to Carnival. A coworker, who prefers the "fun ship" concept and has been cruising longer than I, recommended the cruise line. Although she has sailed extensively with Carnival, she indicated she had not sailed on the Legend. My party of 11 sailed out of Tampa, Florida in three cabins to the Western Caribbean. The best part of the adventure was my quiet and spacious, two-room vista suite on deck seven that features a huge, aft wrap-around balcony. The views were amazing. If you sail on this ship, you must treat yourself to this cabin. There is a sleeper sofa in the living area that can be closed off from the bedroom and king sized bed, You will appreciate the bath tub, two flat screen TVs, private dressing and vanity area, as well as the roomy walk-in closet. Our friendly cabin steward was attentive and kept everything tidy. I also enjoyed my daily chats over breakfast with a lovely restaurant manager on the lido deck. She always had a delightful joke and a warm smile. She is a gem. Our waiters in the main dining room on deck two also made dinner more pleasant. The dinner staff is under great pressure to serve the early dinner group and clear all tables before the late diners arrive. They appear to do a wonderful job.

My major concerns lay with room service as well as the buffet. I worry that sanitation is an issue here, . Why does room service deliver beverages from the kitchen to your cabin without covering the top with a disposable lid or at least a napkin? The beverages are exposed throughout the server's journey on the elevator and to the guests' cabins. That is not acceptable. Three members of my traveling party --- including my husband --- were all healthy prior to embarkment, but caught nasty colds after utilizing room service. My husband sought medical attention as soon as he returned home and learned his "cold" was actually strep throat! In addition, although hand sanitizing units are placed near each buffet line, the guests and staff are too relaxed about using them. On Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas, staff members actually stand at the entrance of the eating areas, next to the Purell stations, and gently requests that every guest who walks by wash up before entering the buffet/dining hall.

On the Legend, there also is no effort to enforce the policy about half naked guests coming in from the pools and helping themselves to the buffet without first putting on shoes, shirts or bikini coverups. I called Carnival and complained about this, but have not yet received an acknowledgment that my concerns were even logged in or forwarded to the appropriate office.
