This was our first cruise holiday, and we were expecting a relaxing two weeks with good accommodation, top quality dining and some reasonable entertainment.
Our first disappointment was the 'stateroom', a cabin area of small proportions with bedding which to say the least had seen better days. Our steward called his superior and she was horrified at the state of sheets and pillows. These were changed immediately but not a lot better than the originals.
We had chosen anytime dining and as food was identical in any of the main three restaurants we decided to eat at the Michelangelo. The quality of cooking was to say the least variable, but one aspect certainly was an inability to cook fish. Scallops were overcooked and on one occasion returned to the kitchen as they were unrecognizable both by us and our very good waiters. Fillets of Lemon Sole did not taste of anything and as we live 50 metres from a fish market we do know what fish looks like and how it should taste.
