With my wife and daughter (15) we tried our first cruise with Celebrity in the Eastern Med. We all had different objectives - I wanted to see ancient Greece and Italy, my daughter wanted to shop and my wife just wanted a quiet life. None of us were disappointed.

The Med cruises sail at night and dock during the day. With only one sea day we based our decisions on the ports and trips available. On the whole the quality was very high, although there are some things to be aware of.

The ship was very nice inside. She carried 2,800 passengers at 2 per cabin, but with kids sharing etc there were in fact 3,200 on board. There was always a quiet space somewhere - although not necessarily by the pool. Main dining never felt crowded, but breakfast in the buffet could be quite a bun fight. The only place the queues really struck home were at the lifts - especially coming back from excursions. We opted to keep fit by walking up the 10 odd decks instead.

Cabin Review

The cabin was far more spacious than I expected with ample room for the three of us, all the clothes, shopping and shoes. A little more space for beauty products in the bathroom would have been useful; but you can't have everything. The full bath and shower was nice - but do remember to remove the towels from their rack inside the shower cubicle before showering...We have a lovely veranda on which we enjoyed our complimentary suite service breakfast every morning. You can get a full cooked breakfast in the suite before both main dining and the buffet open in the morning which is great for early starts. Afternoon tea and evening canapes were left for us so we often came back to a selection of nibbles. The corridor was quiet and there was no real noise from other guests which was nice.
