Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
Our dream had been to take our whole family on a cruise. There were 10 of us who participated in the experience of a lifetime ! 4 kids and 6 adults. We flew to Fort Lauderdale and stayed overnight at the Hyatt Hotel and from there, went to the ship with transportation provided by the hotel.
We had such a wonderful Allure experience!
Our entry onto the ship was QUICK and EASY ! Very smooth and well organized. After our check in ( which took approximately 30 minutes for all 10 of us) we were able to take our group picture and then be admitted onto the ship. Our rooms were not ready ( it was 10:30 am) but we were able to enjoy a very nice lunch in the Windjammer. Food was well prepared, with a great variety to choose from. Staff was helpful and friendly
At 1:00pm , we were able to enter our rooms. We had a grand suite on deck 8, which was so comfortable and welcoming. . Our cabin assistant - Christian - was GREAT !! He greeted us every morning with a big smile More and remembered our names !!Our room was always well tended and clean .He was attentive to our requests.-extra towels, filled ice bucket etc. Our balcony was spacious and we spent mornings sitting out side just watching the world go by .views of sunsets were breathtaking. Our bed was so comfortable - no problem sleeping !!
The rest of the family had 1inside cabin with a view of the Boardwalk. and 1 family suite with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Both rooms were comfortable and their cabin assistants were great !
We did the Character Breakfast and our grand kids thoroughly enjoyed seeing Shrek and the rest of the DreamWorks family and having their pictures taken with them. Service was good and the quality of the food fresh and well prepared.
Our dining experience ( 6:00pm seating at table 677) was amazing. We had a top notch waiter ( Sherlon) and assistant ( Jeffrey) who made our dining enjoyable and entertaining. They worked well as a team, and after meeting us the first night , remembered exactly what everyone drank ( alcohol and non-alcohol) and greeted us as though we were entering their homes ! They engaged in conversation with everyone. Entertained the kids with little tricks Sherlon was very knowledgeable about wines and shared that with us.. They were great. Henrietta ( dining room manager) oversaw all the workings of the tables in her section. She came over to our table every night to make sure that all was well and even gave some tips on the ports that we were going to see.
Quality of the food was very good. Fresh and well prepared. Never had a "bad meal". Kids menu was good , but they switched to the main menu because there was more of a selection. Appetizers were very good. Nice selection. The fish dishes were outstanding -tasty and NOT DRY. Sauces on the seafood were just right - not too much. .The meat dishes were prepared according to order. Veggies were cooked just right - there was quite a variety served. Coffee was really good - Jeffrey would serve us as soon as dinner was over. . We celebrated birthdays and an anniversary while onboard - we were serenaded by the dining staff !!! Desserts were yummy - a good selection. Their chocolate cake was outstanding ! And with a scoop of ice cream - even better .We never felt rushed through our meal even though there was another seating following us.
We did eat at the Mexican restaurant one afternoon. Cover charge to get in !!! But we were hungry for some tacos and cold beer ! And of course, margaritas!!! Yummy.
Onboard activities were plentiful. Our grandkids participated in everything that was available to them. They "surfed" , played mini golf, decorated cupcakes, learned how to make designs with napkins and so much more !!! The zip line was fun - I had a blast ! Short ride , but what a thrill !
The shows were very good - we had made reservations for the entertainment and glad we did . There were people waiting in line because they did not have reservations - for some of the shows , they were able to enter just before the shows began, But for some of the others, the line was out of luck ! Comedy Clubs were always packed. We enjoyed the "CHICAGO" play the most! Topnotch singing and dancing. Dazzles Club had various entertainers every night - great variety. The casino was fun - always nice to win a couple extra bucks on the slots !!
Our port were interesting and diverse. Labadee was beautiful - the "GOLD" card beach was really nice. Water was refreshing and we had a great view of our ship ! Lunch served at the beach was very good. The market with all the Haitian art work and other wares was fun. Falmouth had great history and was quite interesting. In Mexico, we took a tour of the ruins at Tulum - we did not book a tour through Royal Caribbean, We had booked our tour with a company that we used in the past. Great experience.
Our overall experience was FANTASTIC !! We booked our next cruise for next year to Bermuda - leaving from Baltimore this time ! We would love to return to the Allure for a trip to the Eastern Caribbean - that may be in the very near future !! Thanks to Royal Caribbean for a wonderful family vacation ! Less

Comfortable and spacious. GREAT bed for sleeping. !!! Christian , our attendant was FANTASTIC. Bathroom was large and we appreciated the fact that we had a tub with our shower - we didn't have to fight the shower curtain sticking to us every time we turned around taking a shower ! The balcony was very nice with plenty of seating area.
Not what we expected
A 5* experience
