Anniversary Cruise

Sail Date: July 2014
Destination: Mexican Riviera
Embarkation: Los Angeles

We decided to go on this cruise when we were told by Carnival that we had a free cruise due to being Casino Club members. We upgraded our ocean view room to a suite at a discounted rate and decided to go for our Anniversary July 14-18. We went on the Imagination in March with our boys (ages 11-16), and enjoyed the cruise, but the Inspiration was much nicer. We had a wonderful time. This was our 5th cruise with Carnival. It was perfect weather which gave us the opportunity to enjoy the sun.

The food was really, really good in the dining room. We learned not to go to the Lido deck for breakfast. Carnival, please improve the quality of your bacon, eggs, sausages etc..at the buffet on the Lido deck, it is just bad. The omelet bar is pretty good, and for lunch the Panini bar and Mongolian food is really good.

Our suite was on the Verandah deck was V5. It had a very small balcony but it was nice to go out there. I heard that Carnival will not allow smoking on the balconies More anymore this fall so we were a little disappointed to hear that. My husband enjoys a cigar on the balcony and they are already not allowed in the casino.

The Comedy Show was pretty good and the Hasbro show was okay. The Casino's slots were tight and we did the Slot tournament which was fun. Catalina Island is beautiful. We went shopping and had a drink at the Avalon Bluewater Grill which we highly recommend. The Seared Scallops were delicious as well as their Bloody Mary and Mai Tai. We stayed on the ship when we were in Ensenada, and really enjoyed being out on the Lido deck catching some rays. Loved this cruise, it was a nice getaway for our Anniversary and the crew was wonderful as always. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Catalina Island is beautiful. We went shopping and had a drink at the Avalon Bluewater Grill which we highly recommend. The Seared Scallops were delicious as well as their Bloody Mary and Mai Tai. We bought souvenirs and Yoshi's is really nice. I bought a bathing suit there and got a couple of nice shirts for my husband there. When we were here in March we got a golf cart for the family and went to the Botanical Gardens. We love Catalina Island!
