Me, my wife and son just returned from an awesome cruise, the NCL Getaway. Just a little background on us, I'm 50, wife in her 40's and my son 9. I've done 4 cruises; RCCL: Vision of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas, Disney cruise line: Disney Magic. My wife has done 5, all the same as well as the Celebrity cruise line. This was our first with NCL I was a little apprehensive about cruising with NCL because of all the negative reviews. DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!

The food in the complimentary MDR's was delicious! We ate there every night except for seafood night in the buffet. The Garden Cafe where we ate breakfast and lunch every day was very good as well. Very broad selection of food, fresh food was replenished quickly, we had no trouble finding an empty table evey day and our ship was at capacity (4000 guests). We did not find any reason to dine at the specialty restaurants for an extra fee. All cruise lines have specialty restaurants for extra fees. We have never used the specialty restaurants on any cruise line because the complimentary restaurants are always delicious. Service was excellent. When it was busy, service was a little slower, but reasonable. But what do you expect? It's the same thing if you ate out in a busy restaurant at home. You're not the only one eating!

The ship was not TOO LOUD! Whoever complained that the ship was too loud was either sitting beside the speakers or was expecting the 7 day cruise to be one giant library.
