First cruise definitely not the last

Sail Date: July 2014
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

This was our first cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We are so glad we chose this cruise it was fantastic.

Embarkation was smooth we were onboard by 12 o'clock. Purchased posh passes for the week and were sitting enjoying a glass of wine by 1 o'clock. This was more than worth it as the ship was at full capacity so main sundeck was busy most days. Some days we were the only people up there it was bliss. The bar staff there were great so friendly and accommodating bringing round fruit kebabs and iced water when it was really hot.

The food was excellent , we eat out a lot and appreciate good food so we were surprised at the high standard on board considering the numbers they're catering for. Couldn't fault any meal we had, yes sometimes the restaraunts were busy but if you're used to eating in any major city or resort you expect that and you're on holiday anyway so what's the rush.

Breakfast in the garden cafe was the only thing we avoided it More was far to busy. We headed down to La Cucina for a far more civilised breakfast.

Teppanyaki was fantastic we shared a table with a family of 6 from New Jersey and had the most memorable evening. La Cucina was also great we had our anniversary meal there. The staff made us feel so welcome. They presented us with a cake and sang a song for us.

Our cabin steward was great he made our week even better ,we felt sad saying goodbye to him.

We did our own thing at the ports except Livorno where we went on the wine tasting tour which was fantastic even though it rained the vineyard and house were idyllic and the wine and food was really nice.

The mini suite cabin was excellent plenty of space for two of us and the toilet layout wasn't a problem.

The position of it was great near the lifts and stairs so you could easily get to the public areas.

We had a day in the spa which was very relaxing one of the best I've been to. Make sure to do it on a port day or you won't get in. We had the place to ourselves.

All in all this was probably one of the best holidays we've had and we are comparing it to the 5 star resorts that we have been to.

We will definitely cruise again with norwegian but probably on a smaller ship but having said that The Epic is a fantastic ship and we loved it. Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Epic 8179

This cabin is great, quiet but near to everything. You can easily nip up and down the stairs or lifts as they are right outside your door. And no you don't hear them at all. Cabin steward was brilliant level of service was very high.
