I've just returned from a wonderful cruise of the Norwegian fjords aboard Arcadia. We ate every evening in the Meridian restaurant on the first sitting. We had a table for 8 and were very happy with the table mates we sat with each evening. The service from our waiters was excellent. I noticed a difference in the size of the portions as the meals are now plated, but they are sufficient considering the amount of food on offer during the day. The meals were lovely and beautifully presented. For breakfast and lunch we ate in the Belvedere buffet restaurant. The selection was very good and it was very busy at times but we took our trays out to the covered Neptune pool area and found this to be a scenic place to eat.

We had an obstructed view cabin E056 but there was very little obstruction as it was a full length window with plenty of view past the lifeboat which was to the left. The cabin steward Santos kept the cabin very clean each day. The ports we visited were Stavanger, Andalsnes, Olden and Bergen. We did no organised excursions but did want to do the Rauma Railway at Andalsnes but this was booked by the time we boarded. If you want to do this excursion, make sure you book before you go. We went on the land train at Olden which gave a lovely ride round the lake and saw some beautiful scenery, all for 150KR. This was well worth doing. Stavanger and Bergen were easy to explore on foot.

We enjoyed the comedian Lloyd Davies and also the singer Maxine Mazumder, plus the shows produced by the Headliners theatre company although I did feel that the latter really catered by the older clientele, such as those over 60. We enjoyed music played by Inspiration in the Globe during the evenings. The entertainment team we hard working and we enjoyed the sailaways and 60/70s party night. During the 2 sea days we found enough to do around the ship and attended a film in the Screening Room plus the talks about the port destinations in the Palladium. In all, a lovely cruise and I would love to sail on Arcadia again.

Cabin Review

Excellent view from balcony sized window. Lifeboat visible on the left but you can still see everything to the right side. Midship, portside.
