Sail Date: May 2014

Norwegian Star was a tired ship in need of a major overhaul - floor tiles lifting and squelching water from underneath in the buffet café - repeated flooded floors in some of the public toilets - rust spots around cabin balcony - replacing stair carpets in middle of cruise using toxic smelling contact adhesive - theatre seats sagging to one side. Smoking allowed in casino and smoke drifted out of casino up and down adjacent main corridor - Food and meals were unimaginative and menus repetitive. Freestyle dining created unacceptably long queues for main dining room at popular times. The nightly theatre shows were generally of poor standard. Coffee sold at the coffee bar was undrinkable. Crew manning information counter tended to be brusque and unfriendly. Bright spot was the entertainment duo Tino and Ashley who were very good. The TV programmes were woeful with no way of knowing what was on when ie, no TV program was provided. Asked for, and received one that showed the two movie channels. Only trouble was the movie named or the time it was supposed be on never coincided. You get a much better cruise for the same money with either Royal Caribbean or Princess. Don't waste your money on Norwegian.

Cabin Review

Cabin was generally ok. Neither bed nor pillows were comfortable. Cabin poorly prepared - tissues container empty and drinks missing from minibar. Coffee maker did not work.
