We are 77 and74 respectively and we are in pretty good physical shape. Our trip down the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel was our first excursion into Europe aboard the Avalon Felicity. Where should I start? This River Cruise was so wonderful, quite beyond our expectations. (We did reserve through a local Travel Agent) The boat was very, very clean. Strict attention to reduce possible illnesses is observed. We liked the fact that the Felicity was fully booked, and there were not thousands of travelers. The staff in all areas were knowledgeable and responsive to our needs. They were cognizant of cruising safety. Those patrons needing some special assistance were easily and immediately accommodated. The hotel manager was always available, skilled and cheerful. If there were stresses for her they were not evident. Our Tour Director, Mr. Dragan was quite superior. He was prepared for every excursion. Our on land Docents were caring, kind and extremely interested and interesting. If someone wanted to leave an excursion in progress, the Docent made sure they knew the time and best route to return to the boat. We had plenty of time to see everything. At night you were virtually unaware of the boats movement between ports. Passing through Locks with such ease and skill was thrilling as we had never seen these maneuvers. Dining was another wonderful adventure. Our Chef made sure to buy local faire to contribute to our meals. I never found anything I could not eat. Our servers, who came from many varied countries, were prompt, responsive and genuinely caring. Our cabin was always clean and inviting. Our weather was perfect so we kept our door open most of the time. In summary, if someone told us we could go on another cruise tomorrow, we would be packed and ready quickly.
