We are a family of 6 (range from 11-52). This was our second cruise on the Magic. We did the Eastern Caribbean to the Bahamas and Key West. My husband and I had a cove balcony and the kids were in an interior across from us.

Overall, the cruise was great, but there are a few things that I feel are worth mentioning. We were on deck 2 in a cove balcony. I enjoyed being close to the water and I hardly felt the ship moving at all. The room itself was nice. The problem was that we were below the galley! Of course we didn't find that out until later. The noise was horrible! It was as if they were throwing furniture around and dropping bowling balls onto the floor! It went until late at night and then started EARLY in the morning. We did complain, as did our neighbors. There was nothing really that could be done about it. Carnival did credit us 20% of the total cost of our cruise, which was nice and kudos the Carnival for trying. We even came home with money! But, the truth is, we didn't get one night's rest. I would rather have had peace and quiet. Lesson to be learned: take a good look at the deck plans before you book. Whatever you do, do not book a room below the galley. You will regret it! With that said, we did not let that ruin our cruise (although we were always tired by 10:00 pm).

We did notice the absence of one of the performers that was there our first cruise. I don't know his name, but he was great! He always had the place rockin! He sang old rock songs like Journey's "Oh Sherry" and the like. This time they had a couple singing who were a little boring. They basically stayed in the staircase in the atrium and sang James Taylor songs. (He's a fine singer, but not what I want to hear on a cruise. More suitable for easy listening.) The only people who sat and listened to them were older people and people waiting to eat in the Northern Lights Dining room. The other guy had a crowd of people singing along. Bring him back! Also, we got to the a really great show, "Destination Unknown." I'm thinking it's not always on the Magic as they said the guy came from Vegas. If you are able to see it, don't miss it!

Cabin Review

The room itself is nice. Cool to be so close to the water, BUT THIS ROOM IS BELOW THE GALLEY!! It is very loud late at night and in the EARLY morning!! If you are a light sleeper, this will not be the room for you.
