It had been a few years since we cruised with P&O (Aurora both times) and we took this cruise because it fitted with our holiday availability and we wanted to see the Norwegian Fjords. Fantastic weather great cruise but was let down by the ship. Despite the negatives I would take this cruise again because I enjoyed Norway although would not want to rush back to Bergen.

MDR was chaos. Deck 2. Stay away from the rear of this dining room as one evening the ship seemed to be sailing at full speed and the noise and vibration was terrible. We were moved to Table 32 and found the pepper and some of the cutlery had vibrated to the floor. Cannot tell you how many times I asked the waiter for my water glass to be filled. Some Brits we spoke to told us the Freedom Dining was a shambles with long lines and wait times. We ate in the Ocean Grill and East on three nights and that was a much better experience. The cover charge is high at £20, should be £15 max. Some meals in the MDR were cool and most soups were so hot they would scald you.

When we sailed on Aurora we always saw the Captain walking around the ship and often eating on deck at lunchtimes, on Arcadia the man was a ghost.

Cabin Review

Good cabin, typical Balcony. They varnished the handrail one day which kept us off it. TV and entertainment is a 2/10 score. Seems odd that you fly at 35000ft with Virgin and have a choice of films but on this ship very little to watch and the channels taken up by adverts for trips, jewellery etc.
