Second cruise on Oceania and still enchanted

Sail Date: June 2014
Destination: Mediterranean
Embarkation: Athens (Piraeus)

We were looking for a relatively small boat and a cruise not too far away from home (we are Belgians) last year to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in September. Our TA recommended a cruise on Nautica.

We followed their advice although we were a little bit reluctant this being an "English speaking" environment and my husband not being too fluent in English. It turned out to be magical - we just liked everything about the boat, the veranda stateroom (Concierge level), the food, the "open" seating, the friendly personnel, the service.

Therefore we decided to book another cruise, this time on Insignia.

Again, we liked it so much that we have decided that we will most probably try to book another cruise next year, this time from Stockholm to Copenhagen with a stop of 3 days in St Petersburg, Russia.

Although a little small at first sight, particularly as far as the so-called "bathroom" is concerned, we have had really no problem with this. We More managed to find room for all our clothes and shoes and also found that the bathroom was no problem to us.

However, the next time we sail on this boat or on Nautica we will make sure to be on the other side of the "launderette" because I am allergic to the heavy smell of the washing products and the place wa always full making me wonder if those using it had not taken any change of clothes.

The cabin is located mid-ship which was perfect as we did not feel the rocking very much.

We might also reconsider the level as we did not think the Concierge advantages to be important to us.

Only one negative comment : we think that the excursions are much too expensive and, after having used Destination Services on board for two very disappointing and expensive cruises, we just decided that we would cancel the one we booked to visit Istanbul and go on our own. This turned out to be a good decision.

It is a pity however because you sort of feel "safer" when you book with Oceania and are sure to return to the boat on time. Less
