We chose this cruise because of the ports we were visiting, which didn't disappoint. We are not expert cruisers but this was our second cruise. Our first cruise was R.C. in the far east for nearly three weeks. There was very little to compare the two. The Epic was too large, the food was cold and tasteless. We ate in the Manhattan dining room most nights. It was noisy, service for the most part not great. We got the wrong things more than once. The entertainment seemed quite good, especially the' Beatles'. The pool area was a joke. Far too small for the size of ship and if you don't have children and don't want a water park, it was not worth going to pool area. I would add that there seemed to be very few children on the ship. We did find the quiet deck on deck 18 very pleasant and the beds had thick cushions for sunbathing.

Unfortunately our travel agent told us that we could not book a specific cabin? The room was as expected so not too shocked by the unhygienic toilet arrangement.ie open toilet door after use pull curtain back and then wash your hands. The bed had a visible space in the middle and when sheets were pulled back the mattress was filthy. Room was not very clean and the balcony for which we paid hundreds of pounds extra was uselessly large with two small upright chairs and an even smaller table. No view unless you stood up due to having steel bulkhead instead of glass. No sun got into balcony or room as part of the ships navigation area was above our heads as well as steel bulkhead. Very disappointed with the room, and did not spend any time in it even less the balcony.

Embarking and disembarking was very good and fast. Medical staff excellent, once the dining room staff realised I was lying unconscious on the table. The ship was very dark and it seemed dated (although a relatively new ship) Carpets were threadbare in places. Our cabin was awful. Useless dark extra large balcony with no view due to bulkhead. We consider ourselves young in outlook and enjoy a good party. We have booked a Caribbean cruise in January with a different company. Probably never again cruise NCL.
