A dream come true
Silver Whisper Voyage 4414, Stockholm to Copenhagen, 20 June 2014.
The entire eight days was fantastic and my wife and I will definitely will travel with Silversea again.
The overall cost of some A$10,600 (for a Verandah Suite) when you break it down, represents excellent value for money.
A 32 Sq Mt. suite, with full bathroom and terrace with floor to ceiling sliding doors, all gourmet meals on a 24 hour basis (no standing in any lines, no set meal times), room service, all drinks and this includes quality wines and champagne. If we saw these cities independently and if you included the flights to the relevant cities we spent time in, along with airport transfers in each city, the cruise cost represents excellent value.
The suitcases are collected at the gangway and you find them in your suite. You are introduced to your Butler and room attendant, and after choosing the soaps, etc. you want, a bottle of champagne is brought to your suite. AND that's More how the entire week went for us. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir always at the ready in our suite.
Two of the four restaurants are Relais & Chateau (the only cruise company in their stable of hotels) and the main dining room is also outstanding. Total of four restaurants and three bars and a great show lounge with excellent shows - we saw a couple. Then room service when you want it and the menus from each restaurant are there for your choosing.
And they even cleaned my shoes, why I don't know!
The price we paid is fully inclusive of everything including tips. However we gave three staff members E50 each for personalized service in the restaurants and our room. One negative: we have to pay for internet connectivity. On the questionnaire we indicated that passengers could pay a little more and have this service included also. We do understand that this could be changing in the near future.
The stopovers in the four towns, namely Tallinn, St. Petersburg (which you have visited), Helsinki and Copenhagen, along with Stockholm were beautiful towns in their own right to see. We connected with www.mysilversea.com which is the passenger log-in (or should I say, guest log-in) before the voyage and booked six optional tours at a total cost of USD1300.
Four tours in St Petersburg, and one each in Tallinn and Helsinki. Our advise is not to bother with the two latter towns as you can walk around. Which brings me to the best feature of all. Due to the size of Silver Whisper, it comes all the way into most towns visited whereas the larger ships moor way off and sometimes passengers must come ashore by small boats. At St. Petersburg we actually parked on the river some 400 meters from the Winter Palace.
The ship was full- 370 passengers and 320 crew. However it's large enough so you don't feel crowded. Passenger split as follows (approx).
USA - 170
OZ - 50
EUROPE - 110
REST OF WORLD - 50.
I may be a little out - most of the USA people were nice but you always find a few loudmouths. We had every meal at our own table and ate one breakfast and one dinner in the room (suite). They even bring your hot food in stages so it remains warm.
Will we travel with them again. You betcha. Hopefully they will do the Amazon again, then there is the top of South America, Galapodos Islands, and the Med. between Italy and Turkey, including the Greek Islands. Less

Cabin review: Silver Whisper 710
Great location on deck 7 near the front (or what you would call it on ship terms). This meant very little or no noise. Extremely comfortable as indicated in our overall review.
