This was our 15th cruise, and our second on Celebrity. We chose this itinerary because it seemed a great way to travel from Venice, where we spent a week, back to Istanbul, from where we were flying home after a 3 month touring holiday. I had read about bad embarkation experiences in Venice, but we travelled to the passenger terminal via the AliLaguna blue line boat service, which dropped us off right at the terminal. From there we had a short walk to drop our baggage, and there were no delays in boarding at all.
Our stateroom was an ocean view at the front of the ship, which was very spacious and well appointed.
The ship itself was beautiful, and in excellent condition. We enjoyed the lawn area, and sailed away each night from the sunset bar which gave us great views. We stayed on board a couple of days while in port, as we had recently visited those ports on our holiday, and enjoyed the leisure areas, such as the Solarium, and the Persian Garden.
We ate each night in the Main dining room, the food was excellent, and we did not think it necessary to visit the speciality dining venues during the 7 nights. Food was also very good in the Ocean View buffet, we were happy to eat there for breakfast and lunch, as there were so many choices, catering to all tastes and requirements.
We found the entertainment to be of a high standard; Josh the cruise director was very friendly and competent, the hosted themed parties were great fun, and the shows excellent, especially the last show featuring the acrobatic dancers, whichever thought was world class.
The service in all areas was very good, with only a couple of exceptions, and they were minor. Overall Celebrity offered a fantastic cruise experience on this ship, and with this itinerary.
In summary, we had no complaints, and neither did our friends who were first time cruisers. We are recommending it to all our friends.
