Ship Facts: Explorer of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Explorer of the Seas Deck Plans
Great Family Vacation

First off this was my 2nd time on RCL, 7th cruise overall. We had two cabins an Inside and a balcony room

SHIP- The ship it self is starting to show its age, but you can tell crew is trying hard to make sure she still looks beautiful. She is a little bigger then a mid size ship but no huge like some of the new ones. The ship is easy to navigate around. The royal promenade is awesome, wish ever ship did there promenades like this. The ship never really felt super crowed even tho we were walling at full capacity. The ship has a lot to offer people so we never felt board at any time.

Stateroom- The rooms were a little on the smaller size for an inside cabin and about standard size for the balcony. The closets were extremely small, also not a lot of storage space. It would be hard to fit more then 2 people in a inside cabin. The rooms were clean but you could still tell she is in need for a makeover.

Food- Very hit and miss everywhere. Main dining was just ok, windjammer just ok. We ate all our dinners in the main dinning room and nothing ever blew us away and wanting more. We also ate most of our lunch in the main dining room too and had the same affect on us. The windjammer is your typical buffet food so nothing surprising.

Crew- This was probably one of the best crews we have ever experienced on any cruise. They did a wonderful job, from our steward to our waiters to the random crew that made our cruise that much better thank you!

Embarkation/Debarkation- Was an absolute NIGHTMARE. It took forever to get into the terminal area, you get in line with all the other cars and it just takes forever to be dropped off. Getting off the ship was the worst experience out of any cruise we have ever taken. We were suppose to get of around 9:45-10 we were group 5 so not bad but RCL decided to call all numbers between 1-19 at the same time so it was crazy trying to get off the ship, horrible crowd management. We didn't get off the ship until 12:30-1:00

Overall- We had a wonderful time on RCL yes the ship needs a makeover and yes the food could have been better and yes they need to figure out a better plan for coming and leaving the ship but we would totally sail on RCL again.
