We booked this Cruise last July so having spent months getting excited about it, the day of departure finally arrived and six of us set off for Marmaris our starting point for 2 weeks of exciting adventures to fabulous destinations, looking forward to fantastic food and working our way through the "Cocktail" list........I had been reading some negative reviews about the "Celebration" so was pleasantly surprised when our cabin which was on a lower deck was much better than expected. This was our 8th cruise, we had our 2nd cruise with Thomsons on the "Destiny" about 9 years ago and since then have travelled with various other cruise lines. We were really looking forward to cruising with Thomsons again as from memory the food on the "Destiny" had been fab and we had had the most fun on the ship because the bars /casino were buzzing and Entertainment first class. We arrived in torrential rain at Dalaman airport and really didn't notice how very pretty the Port of Marmaris is until our return a week later. The Itenary for this cruise did not disapoint at all even though it was changed by Thomsons after we booked. We originally were also visiting 2 ports in Egypt. The first few days we were settling in and tried the different restaurants which were good, plenty of choice, drinks however was a different story, we were all on the AI package and struggled to find a drinkable wine, eventually we all decided if we were drinking wine it had to be the Rose. Cocktails were good and bad depending on which bar you were in we did find that they weren't consistent and what was nice once was not the next time..... In the buffet dining they had theme nights we went to a few of these which were a let down maybe 2 or 3 dishes of the theme and the rest of the food available was what was normally served. In the main restaurant formal dining was much better but on Captains night 3 of us ordered Sticky toffee pudding, it was inedible, we complained and it was taken away .....the comment from the waiter was "ok I'll tell the chef" no offer of an alternative ? We thought this was a bit strange as usually on a cruise the waiters are more than happy to change something on request but we didn't pursue it. Overall we found the food edible but bland, (didn't put any weight on during this cruise, which was a bonus). We enjoyed the entertainment and the show team worked hard but they were nothing special, the musicians were very good and we particularly enjoyed the band. Our cabin stewardess was fabulous and nothing was too much trouble for her, she was always laughing and chatty . During our 2nd week we were approached by the photographers to have private studio session, as it was our wedding anniversary we decided to go ahead, we chose our pictures which were then sent to USA to be airbrushed and take 10 years off our ages, these arrived last week, on first look they are gorgeous and we look every inch of our former glamourous selves, we excitedly copied them and posted them to FB so our friends and family could view them. Later when we really looked at them properly we saw lots of faults we have been in touch with the company, who have promised to firstly look at the photos and ring me back (last week ....still waiting) and secondly put them right, which they cannot do until they have spoken to me again after looking at them. The fact that no-one has called me back is very upsetting and annoying, so people beware when having these type of photos taken. On a final note our holiday with our friends was thoroughly enjoyable and none of the negatives spoilt it, we know how to laugh......
