Costa Past Guests Level: Corail (my husband and I were also on the Concordia a few months before the tragedy and upon returning home we wrote Carnival a letter telling them about everything wrong that we found with the ship and its organization. Costa seems that instead of improving, they are going from bad to worse. We have been on the Pacifica before.
As usual on all the previous Costa ships, the officers are rude, not friendly at all. They don't greet passengers, they don't look at you . During then 11 days we only saw the Capt. once and it was a brief appearance.
In the buffet area if you ask a waiter to bring you water/coffee from dispensing machines,they tell you that that they need to charge you. In the evening the only thing to eat that they have in the buffet is pizza, a bowl of lettuce and small rolls (no butter)...and you need to go before 9pm, otherwise you will have to wait until the next day for breakfast. The buffet always has a number of areas showing the "closed" sign in every language! They have many waiters/waitresses in the buffet, but they are practically doing nothing....they are looking at themselves on the mirrored walls or the waitresses are flirting with their bosses...there are also an army of bosses, also doing nothing! In the main dining room you have to pay for bottled water, they don't serve regular water. Also, they no longer serve coffee in the dining room after dinner... they tell you to go out and get it from the bar! The food in the dinning room is o.k. but the rations are small and there is not a good selection variety
The entertainment also needs improvement...the production shows are o.k. but they have no "headliners".
The cruise director, a lady, only showed up in the theater ....she spoke several languages but unfortunately gave very little or no info at all.
The only reason we took a Costa ship again was because of the very special itinerary... the Pacifica goes to all the Baltic countries.
We believed Carnival should straighten up the whole Costa organization or get rid of it.
