The good and the bad

Sail Date: June 2014
Destination: Bermuda
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

This was our first time on NCL. We usually go RCL.

The good- we had two rooms, one balcony and one interior but we managed to get both upgraded to mini suites with no additional charge. The rooms were very nice but the balcony was tiny. The bathroom was large with an enclosed bathtub and double sinks. Plenty of closet room, shelves and lots of nook type spaces.

Tip-you need to put in your room card to work the lights. Turns out u could use any similar credit card size card. We kept the card from our hotel room and used that so we did not forget to take the room key

We found the buffet food to be good, better than the RCL. However, we were unimpressed with the dining room service. Only the manhattan club had tablecloths. It took a very long time to get the food once you ordered. The dining rooms were not open for lunch. The food was pretty much the same each day and very mediocre. The service was just ok. RCL dining was always fun with attentive service and More special traditions like Italien night with the singing waiters, flaming platters and beautiful three story dining rooms. Ncl left much to be desired.

The kids area was great. Climbing wall, ropes course, huge slides, video arcade. 24 hour dining in o'sheehans was food. They had great ice cream sundaes for $3-4 dollars and good corned beef sandwiches. Uptown grill had good Reuben sandwiches.

The waterfront is wonderful. Incredibly comfortable chairs and loungers. My favorite part of the ship.

Bingo is very expensive. $49.00 and up for three games. Payout is awful. Callers are so slow with silly jokes. Deal or no deal is fun but expensive. Cards are $20.00 for two games. First game had 1 cash payout of $50.00 and second had no cash payout. There are at least 200 people playing.

Service is ok. Staff often is not friendly except for the cabin steward. Captain is standoffish, and so goes the crew.

We were not able to get a vibe pass. Could not get a tour of spa because they were always busy. Howling at the moon and second city were great

Embarkation and debarkation was fantastic. So fast. Take your luggage off yourself

I would go on the ship again though I would like a haven suite. Bermuda is always wonderful. Less
