Destination: Eastern Caribbean
We recently took the June 14th sailing on Norwegian Getaway. We really cannot say enough great things about this ship, its staff, and its amenities. The ship (albeit new) was in pristine condition. Moreover, I feel as though it was one of the most stablized ship I've been on with very little motion felt on board. We definitely did our best to take advantage of all of that the ship had to offer. Having three full days at sea certainly makes for a great itinerary if you feel the ship is a destination in and of itself.
Highlights onboard for us were the IceBar (nice touch!) the ropes/adventure course, and the water slides. The food was pretty great all around in both the complimentary dining rooms and the speciality restaurants. Our favorite complimentary dining room was the Tropicana with its 1950's Miami feel, it was a great time. We also dined in Teppanyaki, Moderno, and Ocean Blue. Ocean Blue was WELL WORTH the upcharge. Don't shy away from its' pricetag, you won't be More disappointed.
We spent most of our time on the Spice H20 deck during the day. It would be nice if this deck had a small pool and not just the waterfall feature, but the views off the back of the ship and the staff in this area are toprate. We have to give a shout out to Mithun from India - best drink server on the ship. He spends alot of his time on Spice H20. You won't be disappointed.
The only negative we can really come up with from our experience is how everyone rushes to the decks early in the morning to save chairs and loungers. On some other cruise lines, this practice is discouraged and staff will remove towels and belongings that are seemingly unattached to a guest on the deck. On this ship, it was out of hand and people would save chairs/loungers for hours that would go unused in prime locations. It was a real bummer. The staff should consider helping with this dilemma especially since you have 3 full days at sea.
Overall, we highly recommend everything on board. The Illusionarium show was amazing... You hear a lot of criticism about the food, but we found it to be perfectly fine especially if you have the right expectation. Burn the Floor was a lot of fun, we opted to not see the Broadway Show but mostly because of the show itself, not necesarily because we thought it would be a bad performance.
We give Getaway an "A" rating all the way around. Less

Cabin review: 11206
We booked the Mini Suite stateroom guarantee. It was all that was available to us at the time of booking (a little over a month out.) We were originally assigned to a Family Mini Suite on Deck 12 but were asked by their corporate office about 1 week before the cruise if we would switch rooms so a family of four (with small children) could enjoy our room. We were given the same type of cabin (only difference was a large shower stall instead of a bathtub) on the 11th deck and we were given $100 on board credit. Totally was worth it. We really enjoyed the little extra room you get in the mini-suite. Our cabin steward Henry was excellent and really paid attention to our habits and seldom seemed intrusive. He was very helpful. Some may rate the rooms and balconies small, but I ask what were you expecting? Its a cruise ship! Its not the Waldorf in New York City. The only challenge in our cabin (and I can only assume other cabins) is keeping the A/c at an acceptable level. They have all of these energy savings safeguards in place and they are difficult to maneuver. Our A/C would randomly reset to luke warm in the middle of the night.
Port and Shore Excursions
Nassau is always a beautiful port to arrive into.. and we were not disappointed. We only got off the ship to shop in the area right around the port, and then enjoyed the mostly empty ship while every one else was ashore. Was a great way to end our cruise.
Beautiful island, beautiful port, and gorgeous beaches.
We did a 3-hour ATV tour of the Island and were not disappointed. Airport Beach was definitely the most beautiful water we encountered, but gets crowded because of the low flying planes.
Sunset bar was awesome and so were their staff.
St. Thomas was nice, but being a US territory it was a little too "americanized" for our taste. People were nice and the shopping pierside was enjoyable. We made our way on our own to Magen's Bay and Coki Bay. Magen's Bay is a bit sleepy, but beautiful. Coki Bay is way more active, but watch out for hustlers and drug dealers on the beach. The wait staff is also very possessive and aggressive.
