I had been on the Veendam before her retrofit with the ugly butt addition and those ridiculous hot tubs. And the lanai cabins have totally ruined the lower promenade deck. There were no deck chairs for us "poor" folk to sit on and watch the world go by. The deck chairs were all reserved for the lanai cabins. Even in Alaska, we used the chairs, just bundled up with a blanket. That did not happen on this cruise.

Luckily for us, the Veendam spent a few nights in Quebec. Our flight was cancelled and we did not arrive at the port until close to 11 PM, almost 12 hours later than planned. She looked beautiful docked there, all lit up. Boarding was so simple and quick as we were the only ones arriving!

After walking all the way to the aft of the ship, we arrived at our cabin....which was very hot and the beds were together...not good. It took several calls to the front desk before anyone responded to break the beds apart. Eventually we also received a large fan to use. We went to the Lido as it was still in the late night snack time. arghhhh. The food was so limited and all dried out. Not a good way for someone to be introduced to the food of the Veendam.
