We had heard so many wonderful things about the Paul Gauguin that we were incredibly excited about our cruise. Unfortunately we left the cruise feeling quite underwhelmed.

We chose to make our own travel and pre-post cruise arrangements, and based on what friends who had PG take care of them reported, I'm glad we did. We saved quite a bit of money by doing so.

We got to the port about 20 minutes before boarding began promptly at 3:00 pm. Once on board we were ushered to the main lounge to get checked in. That process was similar to most luxury cruises, get handed a glass of Champagne, hand over your credit card, get your passport scanned, issued cabin keys, escorted to cabin where our luggage was waiting for us.
