This was our third cruise, the second with Carnival, and the first without kids. Our group included three empty nester couples in our early 50s. Overall we had an awesome time and I can't say enough good things about the Carnival Liberty and crew.

Embarkation – We live in NC, close enough to drive to Port Canaveral. We stayed at the Radisson so we could park free there and take the shuttle to the port. The accommodations were fine but the property is showing its age a bit. I was very hesitant to pay $50 for Faster to the Fun, but now believe it was worth every penny. We arrived at the port at 11:00 and whisked our way through the check-in process with absolutely no waiting. Our last piece of luggage arrived to our cabin much later than I expected but it was no big deal. FTTF paid off again when we needed to talk to guest services about our bill on the last day at sea. There was a l-o-n-g line of people at the regular station, but only one person waiting at the special station.

Food / Service - Guy's Burgers are as good as everyone says. I controlled myself and only had two the entire week. The Lido buffet overwhelms me with people and choices, but does have good variety. The coffee/tea and salad bar could definitely be better (e.g. add spring mix lettuce). We ate in the dining room every night and enjoyed every single meal. When we couldn't make up our minds, we ordered extra an appetizer or entree or two and shared them among our group of six. Our servers were great and we became quite fond of them. Regarding beverages, we got the soda package and tried several “drink of the days ” There's nothing better than drinking a tropical drink out of a pineapple! Our cabin steward was also quite good and as we requested, kept our ice bucket full. I got room service for breakfast on port days and was pleased. I especially loved making a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. My husband would scoot over to the Lido buffet so he could get a hot breakfast.

Cabin Review

This cabin is at the very front of the ship, with the bridge right above. We booked it because it is priced as an interior cabin, but for an extra $140, you get a picture window with an "obstructed view." The cabin overlooked a shared balcony that you could get to from doors on each side. It was pretty windy when we were at sea so we didn't spend a whole lot of time on the balcony. And since there was a tropical storm brewing in the area, you could really feel the movement of the boat. (That was also true in other areas.) Still, I really liked having a window, plus being on deck seven. I've booked an ocean view room before but didn't like being on deck one. I have also booked a balcony room but didn't feel it was worth the extra money given how little time we stayed in the room. I'd book this room again but my husband is hesitant to be in the very front again. His preference is to be more in the middle.
