My family of 7 cruise on the Carnival Magic on June 1, 2014. We were celebrating my daughter's High School Graduation. This was our 15th cruise but our first out of Galveston. It was a pain and expensive to get from Houston to Galveston. We also paid a ridiculous price for a hotel stay in Galveston. We probably won't sail out of this port again. We got to the port around 11:00 and we had a suite and faster to the fun. We did not get on board until 12:30. We were very disappointed in the faster to the fun. Our room was NOT ready when we got on and our luggage was not at our room either. Not sure we really got any benefit at all to having the faster to the fun. The ship was nice. We had two ocean suites and an interior room. We had our room steward remove the divider on our balcony and we all enjoyed the large balcony. The ship was clean but almost everywhere we went there was a sewer odor. Our bathroom smelled that way also. Our hallway and many others areas had a bad smell. Our room steward wasn't friendly but he kept our room clean and we had a towel animal every night which made my Granddaughter very happy. Our waiters in the dining room were not very friendly either but they served our food in a timely manner. Our main waiter never cracked a smiled or even hardly spoke to us. The food was only fair. Most nights we ate very little. The choice was limited and everything was bland. We requested a window table and we received it. We could not see anything that was going on as far as entertainment in the dining room. The slides and ropes course were fun. The pools and hot tubs were always crowned. We felt like everywhere we went on this ship it was crowded. The Lido Marketplace was crowded but we were able to get through the long line fairly fast. The lines were long for the hamburgers and hotdogs too. The pizza was good but the lines were always long. We used the spa one day and the massage was very good but this was the worst spa on any ship I have ever been on. Even with a massage we were not allowed to use the sauna or steam room. We had to pay an additional fee. The changing room was only a large bathroom. There were no amenities at all. For what they charge for a massage you would think you would get a nice facility. My husband and son got the weekly spa package and used the facilities most days and they enjoyed them but agreed with me about the facilities being small and not much there. We didn't have any trouble getting off at Grand Caymans. There was a really long line getting back on. We enjoyed all the ports. Cozumel we did Nachi Cocum and enjoyed it. Grand Cayman we chartered a boat for our family and did the stingrays, snorkeled, starfish and beach. It was a great day. Jamaica we got a day pass at the Hilton rose Hall and had a good day there. We enjoyed the slides and lazy river. The beach here is not that good. We only went to one show. It was the magician and he was good. We went to the comedy show three times. We enjoyed all of them. I didn't really like the lady comedian. You have to go early as the lines are really long and it is a small room. We used the serenity deck once since it was really crowned on sea days. My son and daughter-in-law are still arguing with Carnival about their bill which was off by several hundreds of dollars. Over all this was a good cruise on a nice ship. We definitely got what we paid for. If we are ever in the market for a fun cruise where we just want to be together for a good price not caring too much for good food or great service then this will be the cruise we choice.
