Ship Very disappointing !!
Destination: Baltic Sea
Cruised 8 times with other lines before incl. Cunard, RCL & Fred Olsen. MSC Opera was poorest by far.
Checking Opera reviews on this site there seems to have been a serious increase in customer dissatisfaction over last 6 months. What has changed on board ?
Baltic capital ports itinerary very good, and St. Petersburg was the gem, using excellent local guides (Lentina Travel) highly rated on Trip Advisor.
Inside cabin, just OK with good steward.
Lucas band were good for dancing - which we enjoyed.
Latin American dancing classes were enjoyable, but small space for those dancing
Poor food both in restaurants and especially in buffet. Always served lukewarm, at best. Poor tasting, even the pasta & pizza (on an Italian ship ! ) Served a "burnt kipper" for breakfast ! How do you burn a kipper and then serve it to a customer ? Big problem in kitchens and in delivery mechanism. More
Entertainment staff worked hard but lacked imagination on the variety of offerings. Same music quiz format on 10 nights !! Shows only average and again lacked imagination. Very repetitive format and always the announcements in 5 or 6 languages. Even a ventriloquist in multiple languages ! Eventually gave up on the shows.
Passenger health being compromised by poor supervision of hand gel stations and slack cleaning of buffet tables, a feature of the low staff numbers in certain areas. Gents toilets quite disgusting on occasions, partly due to fellow passengers !
Ships management not interested in feedback.
Pre-cruise, poor information on ships daily activities including number of special dress evenings etc. Telephone staff didn't know anything. 2 off "Gala" dress nights, but where was the Gala ? Not a ship to dress up for really.
Not an experience to be repeated. Fellow passengers reported that other MSC ships were better, but would I take the risk ? Don’t think so. Less
