Thomson Dream Cruise Review by fat-man: Great cruise

First time on the Dream and had some reservations due to some of the previous reviews. Embarkation was very swift due to our flight being delayed and we were the last on board so had to do the safety drill the following morning. Found the ship very clean, had cabin 6050 on the 6th deck it was spacious, very hot powerful shower with bath, plenty of hanging space. Enjoyed the tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin and the fridge. All staff were very friendly. Only ate in the Lido restaurant and found the food to be hot, varied and plenty of choice. The crew did serve you but again didn't find this and issue as if the portion size was too small you only had to ask for more. Main niggle was the slow bar service especially in the Lido area, also there were no bar menus on display and I had to ask for one to determine what drinks were available. Staff were exceptional with my mother in law who needed some assistance in getting on and off the ship, in fact all staff helped her More
(despite us being there) whenever they saw her around the ship.
Ports of call excellent. Only did 2 excursions rest of the time we did our own thing. The Florence and Pisa excursion was good but very tiring and Portofino was expensive considering how close we were, didn't find it value for the money and wished we had got the local ferry instead as it would have been a lot cheaper and we would have had longer in such a beautiful place. Overall I cannot complain about the ship its facilities or staff we had a fabulous week, but I do prefer the Thomson Spirit as it is a slightly smaller and seems more friendly and we spoke to a number of the other passengers who felt the same.
