Sail Date: May 2011
Traveled with children

My family of 6 (3 adults 3 kids 11-14) sailed May 24th. We chose this cruise for a several reasons. Last year we sailed the Breakaway to Bermuda mid May. We enjoyed the cruise and the ship. Having the kids and all the activities offered on the Getaway in a warmer climate just made since. I will make several references in this post comparing the Getaway to the Breakaway as people seem curious about the comparison. I will add we are platinum members with RCL and Princess and this was our 16th total cruise. So here goes.

Arrived in Miami Friday afternoon and stayed at the Embassy Suites. Hotel was as described by most on Trip Advisor. A very popular place pre cruise. Rooms were a little dated but it was clean and safe. Not much to do in the area nearby. There were 3 ships sailing out the same day we were (Saturday). Breakfast was good. Pool area was nice. and they offer a shuttle for $10 per person to pier. Airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes 24/7

Embarkation was a snap. We left hotel at 11:30. 15 min drive to pier. They were already boarding. There was 2 lines for general boarding and The Haven. Before you sail register to be a Latitudes Member. We heard an NCL employee ask people if they were Latitudes members. We spoke up and went straight to a booking rep. One hour from the time we left the hotel we were on the ship.

Cabin Review

Cabin aft balcony

Standard sized room. No clock. Balcony was tiny. Bathroom and shower were fine.
