Sail Date: May 2014

We left out of Port Canaveral on May 24, 2014. The ship is in good condition. I have been on 2 other Carnival cruises, on the Legend and the Victory. The Liberty, in my opinion, is the nicest of the ships I have been on thus far. The upgrades (Guy's Burger Joint and Burrito and Taco Bars) are definitely a plus. Embarkation was easy. We stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port, which offered shuttle service to the Port and parking for $40. We purchased Faster to the Fun and we on the ship fairly quickly. Our room wasn't ready, so we headed up to the Lido for lunch. The buffet was the same as every Carnival cruise. It's Ok, not great. It gets the job done and every now and them they will feature an item that is quite tasty. We selected a balcony room (6236), which I highly suggest for 7 day cruises. It was clean and well maintained. Only downside to this room is that it is directly above the main stage so we could hear the rehearsals and performances. Not a big deal for us, we were out and about having a good time. Probably not good for those with small children. We had the late dinner and found the menu and food to be improved from previous cruises. Make sure to visit the Diamond Steak house at least one night - it's well worth it. The cruise director, Brittany, was very good. All of the Ports on the Eastern Caribbean wee nice, San Jan, St. Thomas, Nassau, and Grand Turk. We enjoyed San Juan the best by far! We had a tragedy on St. Thomas' excursion, where one of the passengers drowned so that really ruined that stop for us. I will say that Carnival did an excellent job of handling the tragedy and although a bit shaken, we were able to continue our cruise. All-in-all, the ship is nice and I think it's a great value. No doubt there are a few down sides to Carnival, but I think that this ship and itinerary are well worth exploring.
