A 12-nights cruise in fine weather and calm seas - Venice to Barcelona
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Pre-cruise: We flew from Scandinavia to Venice, one day before the cruise. We stayed at the ordinary 4* Anthony Hotel, outside Venice. The next day we made use of the hotel's excellent service to the cruise terminals.
Embarkation: Went very quickly. We went to the check-in Counter for Concierge cabins.
The Ship: The Equinox is really a beautiful ship!
Cabin info: Our Concierge cabin was large and very nice.
Captains Club: Unfortunately, as Elite members we had not much advantage of the Captain's Club daily cocktail hour. Because the opening hours is only between 5-7 pm, and we ate dinner relatively late.
Dining: We had all our dinners in the MDR, with Select Dining. Our waiters were very busy. Most of them however, did a god job. On this cruise, we had different waiters most evenings, unlike the majority of our More RCI-cruises with My Time. It was not relevant for us, this time, to give additional tips to anyone of the staff in our section of the MDR – something we usually do.
The sommeliers in the MDR were friendly, but understaffed.
Many of the main courses in the MDR, were tasteful and of good quality.
Unfortunately, we observed a lot of cut backs since our last cruise with Celebrity, some years ago.
We found it strange that ordinary cooked ham was not among the cold cuts for breakfast in the Oceanview Café. Instead the offer was only turkey and a kind of saveloy. Every breakfast we specially had to ask for prunes. Cold soups were just listed on the dinner menu once, during the entire cruise. There was never available ready-made sandwiches or croissants etc.
The crew: The majority we meet were friendly. We will particularly emphasize our excellent cabin attendant, Dimas from Indonesia, and his assistant.
Regretfully, we have to say that we think Natallia at the Guest Realations Desk, need a lesson in good and friendly customer care. Fortunately, her colleague Carl, solved our problem.
Bars/Cafes: We especially enjoyed the Café al Bacio, for tasteful cappuccinos.
Public areas: very pleasing.
Itinerary: A good mix of relaxing sea days and nice ports. For us, Istanbul was the most interesting destination (we had not been there before).
Entertainment: We have no specific comments.
Disembarkion in Barcelona –smooth. Easy to find baggage. Driving time to the airport takes approx. 25 minutes, and we paid € 40. Less
