We are experienced Silversea cruisers. Silver Cloud fell far short of expectations. Food eaten on board before sailing made us both ill. Heating system was broken for three days. Instead of apologizing, crew blamed cold weather but finally repairmen were aboard and fixed "non existent" problem. Gift shop was out of most sweaters due to purchase by previous cold cruisers on Buenas Aires - Valparaiso leg. The food on the ship was well below expectation and kitchen ran out of some key supplies before cruise ended. We would be pressed to rate the food even 3 star. Most of the tours were below par as there was little to see. Several guides seemed unprepared; others were excellent. The cruise consultant could not be separated from his computer and his replies were one word or, at most, "it's not my function."
There was a fierce electric storm upon arrival in Buenas Aires forcing us to cancel our day and a half trip to Iguazu Falls. After five months of haranguing Silversea, we received an insurance payment for less than half the amount, the premium for which we had paid before sailing, plus an semi-apologetic offer of a discount for a future cruise. Company accepted responsibility for nothing. That Silversea was not at all proactive is the most disappointing evidence that Silversea is not what they used to be.
Cabin was acceptable although it appears a bit dated. Railing on veranda was rough and needed sanding and varnishing
