This was our 5th cruise on NCL. We toughly enjoyed it. Itinerary (excluding embarkation and debarkation port) was such that we only visited two ports twice during the 24 days. Did not matter as it allowed us to do different tours in each port. We continue to be impressed by the cleanliness and maintenance of their ships and cabins The variety of the entertainment was excellent but given this was 3 BB cruises some shows did repeat. All acts were top notch.
The one disappointment continues to be the food quality in the main dinning rooms and the buffets. It has slipped in our opinion over the past few years. Considering this was 3 BB cruises the menus repeated.
We purchased the specialty restaurant package which was not only a good value but gave us access to higher quality food and more intimate and quieter surroundings. Steakhouse, Bistro, and Jasmine are our favorites. If you like a glass of wine with your meal then I recommend buying one of the wine packages offered (25% saving). While they don't include $75 + wines they are definitely a cut above the usual house wines offered.
Breakfast can be chaotic particularly if you are trying to make an early morning tour on a port day. Unless you are a big breakfast eater we found a better solution was just to order continental breakfast in our stateroom.
Tours offered by the Cruise Line are excellent but a bit expensive and can be crowded. If the tour is a 7-9 tour and ship is only in port 9-10 hours I would go with the Cruise Ship Tours. If they are late in retuning the ship will normally wait before sailing. If you are in port 8-10 hours and you only want a local tour 3-5 hours then we would recommend considering "Shore Excursions" (Independent company) They tend to be a little more economical and less crowed. We did a combination and were very satisfied. "Shore Excursions" rep was always there waiting when we docked.
Architecture and history are amazing. A must see.
Can't go to Istanbul without visiting. Really not enough time to fully explore (45 minutes) Thought it would be more like an outdoor market with stalls etc. More like an indoor shopping mall with stores. Allow at lease two hours or more to explore.
Interesting to see how East meets West. Architecture, Fresco's etc.were amazing
Fun place to visit and see all spices, fruits nuts etc.
Interesting from a historical point of view. Not much to actually see. Size is amazing.
Great historical site. Restorations are amazing.
Interesting from a historical and religious perspective.
Kotor was our favorite Port. The water when we arrived was like glass and the reflection of the mountains and buildings was like out of a picture book. The bus ride (25 switchbacks) and view from the top of the mountain was spectacular. Local village at top was very interesting and gave you an opportunity to appreciate the local culture. Sorry this is not a regular NCL port of call.
Bus ride and scenery were great. Very good Italia lunch served during our stop.
Long day with boat ride (one hour both ways). Very worth while to see how the rich and famous live.
This was one of the ports we visited twice. We did the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii tours on our first stop and Capri Island tour on the second. For a great view of Capri and surrounding islands take the chair lift to the top and relax with a cappuccino and enjoy the view. Almalfi coast is spectacular but the bus ride is nothing compared to going up the mountain in Kotor.Pompeii is great for history buffs
Island is beautiful and the sunset reflecting on the mountain and roof tops was amazing.
Suggest riding the Gondola to the top. Donkeys may be fun for those under 40 but definitely slower and smellier. This was one of the independent tours we took. It was smaller 10 people and more intimate than the larger Cruise Tours (40+). Better opportunity as well to ask questions and our bus driver was able to stay one step ahead of the regular Cruise tours.
