Couldn't have been happier

Sail Date: May 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan

Great ship, carnival made it effortless

Arrived at ship around 2:30, although sailing was at 10pm. We carried all our luggage on as the last time we left on a late cruise we didn't get our luggage till 11:30 pm. Wasn't taking that chance again!

Room was ready, so we rolled the luggage in, unpacked and headed to lido to eat.

Ate at the fish and chips place on 10th floor, this little hidden gem was fabulous. Thanks to previous revi

Reviews we knew about this eatery. It's a must ! Great food, and hardly anyone knew about it!

First evening we ate at Scarlets steak house. Had lamb chops, super. Service and staff fabulous, attentive, and very friendly. Recommend this highly, the $35 up charge was worth every penny.

Free wine on first night there.

Room in General was fine. Location on 7th, empress was good. Little or no issues with room. Cabin attendant very friendly . Not much drawers for clothes so everything went into closet More on shelves. Fridge has mini bar set up which we did not use. Had a case of water delivered to room and feed them into fridge every couple of days. Mattress a bit hard but managed to sleep fine. Hair dryer located in drawer of desk, it was a real hair dryer not one of those stupid hoses.

Ship in General was great. We managed to figure out the lack of pass throughout on 3,4 and 5 deck. We chose anytime dining and went the same time everyday so we got the same waitress and staff. Lines started forming around 6:45 so we went around 6 pm every night.

Food was good and had no complaints. Had the molten lava cake every night with double ice cream. Favorite meals were eggplant parm, prime rib, surf and turf. We had purchases the 5 bottle package of wine which we enjoyed. It ended up being a savings to us vs by the glass to the tune of $20c

Entertainment was spotty. Yes, they continue to have the stupid shows in the Ivanhoe arena, and most of them were ridiculous. Carnival needs to revamp them. I will say however they got their comedy shows perfect. They got better by the day. The Punch liner shows were by far the best.

The Broadway type of show in Ivanhoe was pathetic, while I am sure it costs them a pretty penny for the costumes they were just a waste of time sitting through... Sorry Carnival!

Stops included St thomas, were we spent the day ay Marriott Frenchmans reef for a fee. Barbados we went to the Boatyard, st Lucia we went to Reduit beach, St Kitts visited Marriott Vacation a Club and St Martin we went to Mullet Bay. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Valor Interior Empress 7290

No complaints, well except the mattress was a little hard

Port and Shore Excursions

We purchased the day pass at Frenchmans Reef. It included towels, chairs and access to pool, Resturant and beach. First class place. We are MVC owners so this was a no brainier.
