Price= Great, Destinations= Great, San Juan embarkation/debarkation =Great, Food=OK.
This cruise is a great time for all. We have cruised with Carnival before none have been bad, but none have been outstanding with the exception of this cruise. Yes the ships decor is a little “old vegas” or “dated” but very clean and the cruise staff is great. The shows are good and the onboard actives are fun (I highly recommend one of the art auctions, free champagne good art and no pressure to buy). You don’t take this cruise for the activates though, you take it for the ISLANDS.
The suite was perfect, size was spacious and great layout our cabin was: deck 7, starboard side forward, a few steps away from the elevators so not to much noise.
San Juan on a Sunday is magical, go to the Fort fly a kite with 200-300 of your newest friends, then walk down the wall by the sea and into the market, buy a glass of orange juice for 1.00 (best in your life) and dance the cha-cha or salsa with one of the locals as a band plays from 5-9. St Thomas tour the island or go to the beach stop for a little shopping but no matter what you do the whole island is great. In Barbados you have to ride the Bajan Open Bus with guide NICK, two great beach outings and all the beer and Rum punch you want! In St Lucia do a Soufriere tour (sail or bus) seeing the Pitons, the hot springing, and snorkeling off the coast of Soulfriere is amazing. St. Kitts, go to the beach! Avoid the train it is long, boring and way over priced (trust us). Lastly in St Maarten, Sunset beach at the airport (make sure you get there before 10:00 or no more room). Lounge chairs and umbrella for 10.00 a person and drink prices between 3.00-4.00, also great white sand beach with mild swells.
Bajan Open Bus tour, Nick as the guide. Tour of the city plus two beaches WHITE SAND and the beach to your self, great tour alcohol included in the tour.
Sunday in Old San Juan is great. Check into the ship by 2:00, then explore Old San Juan. Go to the Fort and Fly a Kite, walk into the heart of the city and have a beer at La Taberna Lupulo, the largest craft brew bar in the Caribbean. Make your way down to the Paseo De La Princesa. Buy a glass of fresh orange juice for 1.00 and dance with the salsa and cha cha with the locals.
Not worth the price or time. Stick to the beach or resorts.
Soufriere tour. Started out on a hour Catamaran to Soulfriere. Toured the rainforest and crater, ate a great lunch then back on the Catamaran, snorkeled some great reefs, then party back to the ship (dropped us off right at the boat).
Sunset beach at the airport (make sure you get there before 10:00 or no more room). Lounge chairs and umbrella for 10.00 a person and drink prices between 3.00-4.00, also great white sand beach with mild swells.
A good tour but the beach would have been better.
