On our California Coastal cruise, we were not informed that the previous cruise had the Norovirus on board. We were held at embarkation for approx. 2-3 hours additional. We found out later that they were trying to "clean" the ship. Once on board everything seemed OK. Then each day we kept being informed about the growing number of people that had contacted the disease during our trip. Obviously, the ship needed more cleaning.

A pet peeve on this trip was the "Anytime Dining". Only one dining room was available between 5:30 and 8:00 for Anytime dining. Two became available after 8:00. There were long lines, and even though we showed up at 5:30-5:45 every night, we constantly were being given pagers. Why you ask!!!!! Because Princess allowed reservations!!!!. Large groups were making reservations for 6:00PM through 7:00PM, which meant all of these tables were reserved, and Anytime diners without reservations had to wait until these folks finished their meal. A few times we were whisked to another Dining Room. Once, when this happened, we were sent to a "Set Seating" dining room at 7:15. My wife had pre-ordered her "Gluten-Free" meal at the Anytime Dining room the night before, and this "Set Seating" dining room couldn't find it. She had to remember what she ordered, and then they had to prepare it gluten-free. We had our food thrown at us, since we were in a dining room where second seating started at 8:00PM. We left without any dessert at 7:58, being rushed out the door.

We also noticed that, although it was very nice of the pizza makers to prepare a gluten-free pizza for my wife, they were tossing the dough for every pizza without gloves on. While normally this is not the most sanitary way to do this, it was INSANE to do this when there was a Norovirus on board.

Cabin Review

Room was a typical balcony stateroom with adequate room for storage. Bedding could use an update, but not horrible. The usual courtesy robes were not in the room, or offered to us.
