Great Time on a BIG Ship

Sail Date: May 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

- Embarkation was a breeze, it is easier with a suite. The ship is in great shape even though 6000 people come on and off every week. There is sooo much to do on this ship, something for everybody.

-Grand Suite had lots of room and plenty of storage. Really nice room and a wonderful balcony. Being in this level of suite gives you access to the Concierge Lounge. The Lounge offers one of the best views on the ship and some drinks before dinner. Bathroom has two sinks, which makes it easier to get dressed for dinner. Tub has a high stepover, but there is a place on back of the tub to sit and swing in to the tub.

- Food on the ship was really good at the free venues and a little disappointing at the specialty dining. MDR, Boardwalk Doghouse, Cafe Promenade were standouts. For the fees charged, most of the specialty restaurants under performed. Exceptions were Giovanni's and the Chef's Table, in fact if you pay extra to dine make sure you get a reservation to the Chef;s More Table!!!!!

- Shows were good and the Aqua Theater was a real treat for my wife and I. Kids will like the Dreamworks activities and parents have a myriad of diversions. Spa and gym are a little small for a ship this big, spend a little extra for the thermal suite it is worth it.

- Disembarking was a breeze and well orchestrated. Use the luggage valet program. We packed our big bags, turned them over and didn't see them again until we got home. It was sooooo nice to not have to lug the bags through customs and to the airport. Service is free for suite guests and worth it if not. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Jose Cuervo Tequila Tasting and Discover Mexico

(5)

Nice tour!! The Discover Mexico park was informative and the artwork was a visual treat. Learned a ton about Tequila during the tasting. Memo ( Tour Guide ) did a great job.

Plantation Tour

(4)

Good Hope Plantation was a nice trip. Horse drawn carriage ride, house tour and rum tasting. It was nice even though it rained. Thrill seekers can ride ATV's, zip line and river tube.
Not much outside the port if you are not on a tour.

Barefoot Beach is awesome. The views and the beach are a great place to unwind. The wife and I rented a beachfront cabin and were glad we did. The service was great, drinks were cold, cabin included floats and comfortable furniture. There was a place to charge your gear, overhead fan in the cabin and plenty of privacy. Lunch buffet on the island was really good (Steak, Chicken, Shrimp and all the fixins). Plenty to do on the island if you don't want to relax, Note to all - Wear a closed toe aqua shoes in the water. The beach is made from coral and it gets a little rocky just beyond the shoreline, protect your feet!!!!
