Carnival Sunshine Cruise Review by NopiChic: Great ship!

I will admit I was a bit apprehensive about cruising on the Carnival Sunshine. I had read so many bad reviews about the upgrade I was thinking about changing my cruise to another ship. I am glad I didn't!!!
The Sunshine was a great ship! Is it perfect? No, but what ship is? There were a few quirks and the layout took a bit of getting used to, but with my trusty deck map in hand, I made it just fine (most of the time, LOL)...
Just before our cruise we were upgraded to a spa-level cabin on deck 11... It was fantastic and included admission to the spa sauna, steam rooms and heated loungers... which were amazing... I will pay the extra cost for a spa-level room on another cruise...
Our room was one of the ones added during the recent upgrade. It was on the Serenity Deck 11 and was just down the hall from the Serenity pool. The three-level Adults-only Serenity area was amazing. We spent time in the pool and whirlpool on Deck 14...Very nice to have a kid-free More zone...
We were assigned to the 8:15 pm dining to begin with, but since I am diabetic and must take meds at the same time each day, we requested a move to the 6:00 pm dining and were changed without a problem. We were given a table for two, which was fine. We sat close to a couple who were traveling with her mother and it was very nice to meet them. We saw them at various venues on the ship and sat together in the Liquid Lounge for several shows as well.
The Liquid Lounge was interesting and unlike any ship I have been on thus far. I enjoy the shows very much. Epic Rock was my favorite and the cast was outstanding! The other shipboard entertainment was awesome as well... Ron Moore was the guitarist and was amazing... Swamp Thing was the live band and really rocked!!!
Getting in to see the comedians at the Punchliner in the Limelight Lounge required some patients and took time... If you didn't get in to the first show... there were several more you could attend...
We did eat at Fahrenheit 555, the steakhouse... It is well worth the $35 per person. If you make reservations for the first night on board, you get a free bottle of wine. Just be hungry when you go!!!
We managed to eat at all the specialty restaurants on board and enjoyed some more than others... just a personal preference... Guy's Burgers were awesome.. my favorite was the 'Pig Patty'... A bacon-cheeseburger concoction that was amazing!!!
Some people have mentioned the ship 'shudders' on occasion..we noticed this as well, but it didn't interfere in the operation of the cruise nor did it disturb us an in any way... we would say... oops hit a whale or iceberg (okay we have a sick sense of humor, LOL) and then go on about our business... For the most part it was the smoothest sailing we've ever been on in the seven cruises we've had...
Would I book the Sunshine again? Yes in a heartbeat!!! The ports of call were amazing... Loved St. Thomas, Grand Turk, Tortola and St. Maarten.. It was our first visit to those islands... and it won't be our last... There is enough to see and do on each island to book this cruise several times...
If you are contemplating the Sunshine... check her out... she's a great ship... Less

Cabin review: Carnival Sunshine 11007
Great cabin... Loved the spa amenities that came with the cabin. The sauna, steam rooms and heated loungers were a very nice addition to our cruise. Love the close proximity to the Serenity deck pool. Will definitely book a spa-level room again.
