A REAL review!!

Sail Date: May 2014
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

After booking our cruise we were slightly worried when we had a look at the reviews made by passengers, most were disappointing and caused a little concern but we went with an open mind and straight away, from the moment we met the coach at Dalaman right to the end of our cruise, we were impressed.

Check in at Mamaris was quick and painless, our cases were outside our room within an hour of bourding and all was good.

We were on Eagle deck room 007 and it was in great condition and was the rest of the ship, yes she is getting on a bit but she has aged well and should not disappoint.....if you can let a few "not so pleasing" sights spoil your holiday then you are to picky!!! The room with a balcony was cleaned at least 3 times a day if needed, towels were changed whenever you needed to and the room cleaned to a good quality.

Ship vibration... we felt a little vibration and at times you can see the beer in your glass move but never heard it no matter where we More were on the ship even when we were docking however, there is a tiny bit of "roll" at times but we were told by the crew that the stabilizers had not been used all week as there was no need for them and to be honest, for what roll you felt or any vibration, you soon forgot about!

Drinks. We were on a drinks package so we made good use of the package even though we are not heavy drinkers by any means but we worked out roughly what we would have paid had we bought the drinks individual and it would have cost us approx £500! We took part in 5 excursions meaning most days we were ashore all day, had we been aboard all day everyday we could have doubled that cost!

The drinks package itself is very good but it has 1 limitation, John Smiths and Heineken are the only draught beers. Most and i mean 90% of all cocktails are on the package so basically you have a choice from about 30 cocktails, plus approx 10 you paid extra as a supplement if you were on the package at about £1.20.

The cocktails ARE NOT PRE MADE!! In all bars we could clearly see all our cocktails being freshly made right before our eyes and they are all of good quality!!!

All coffees such as Lattes and Mochos are all on the drinks package, you don't pay extra!!

Food. We didn't dine in mistrals but all other restaurants we excellent, Lido's was full of choice and good quality, the deck food bars were all good quality and all food was hot and fresh. Meridian restaurant was really good with a good menu each night however, the desserts were a let down as they lacked in flavour for my liking. The waiter service was good and were always topping up your house glass of wine.

Entertainment. Excellent all round, the crew were amazing in every performance!

The Show lounge is very cool during the day with the a/c, during the evening shows this isn't a problem as it soon warms up and we never felt chilly at all.

All the staff were very friendly, they get to know you, you get to know them and they always have a smile on there faces and eager to please.

Shore excursions. We had 5 arranged excursions pre booked with Thomson's, all were very well organised and you were well looked after by the educated tour guides and you are always chaperoned by a Thomson rep too from the ship.

I will say that the Larnaka and Lefkara excursion in Cyprus was quite disappointing and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, you tour very quickly round 2 churches (1 close to the ship, other high in mountains) and you compare the 2, then shop in the village in the mountains looking at lace and silver......not interesting at all.

Would highly recommend Israel, Bethlehem, Dead Sea and Masada.

If you are looking for glitze and glamour or perfection in everything you see then the Celebration isn't for you, if you can find something to moan about with every service or show, drink, meal etc then you really need to find a new hobby.

We really enjoyed our time on the celebration, we went with an open mind and came back with amazing memories of a fun filled cruise full of decent food, drink, service and entertainment and a good looking ship with wonderful, polite and helpful staff.

Don't let the bad reviews put you of, these people seem to moan about the slightest thing and are not happy unless they moan, yes some people will have a bad holiday but you get that anywhere not just on Celebration!! With over 1200 cruiser on board, some one somewhere will have something go wrong!

This was our second cruise so we were not blinded by expectations of other ships, we took the ship for what it was worth and we can sincerely recommend cruising on the Celebration, you will enjoy it! Less

Cabin review: Thomson Celebration 007

Our room was on Eagle deck cabin number 007, deluxe with balcony. We had 2 large double wardrobes, Queen size bed, bath AND shower. The cabin itself was roomy and nicely decorated with 2 chairs and a table plus plenty of draw space. We had a phone and fridge plus a kettle and 2 electric sockets, 1 with a British adaptor 1 without. The balcony was spacious with a sunbed, 2 chairs and a table with an easy sliding door from cabin to balcony.
