This was our 4th time cruising to the Caribbean. There were four adults in our group and we had two cabins which were next to each other. Both were balcony cabins. They were clean, the beds were comfortable and the shower water pressure was great (a plus !). Our room steward did a good job. He was very unintrusive but did his job well. What he lacked in personality was tolerable due to his job being done well. Our cabins were very quiet. ( 6328 and 6332) They were aft and port side. I did have one very big concern......the smell in our cabin was unpleasant throughout the cruise....It smelled like a combination of cooking odors and diesel fumes. We were near the galley and being a aft room made it a strong possibility of diesel. I would suggest a forward cabin due to this problem.

The ship did not seem overly crowded. We did not encounter long lines for food and deck chairs were reasonably easy to get even on sea days. The shows in the Liquid Lounge were awful. The comedians were good but they had them in a small lounge and it was very difficult to get in and get a seat. Heard many comment that they should have been in the big lounge instead. The young lady in the piano bar was excellent. The food on this ship was very poor. We had the 8:15 seting for dinner and it was not even close to what we had on previous cruises. The burger bar on Lido deck was good and JiJi Asian was the best thing we had (includedat lunch but 12.00 extra for dinner). The desserts were not worth eating with the exception of the key lime pie. They were lovely but all tasted the same cardboard taste. They were not made onboard it seemed. We ate the fresh fruit which was good. Room service is limited but speedy.

The ports we visited were all great except Grand Turk which we would have preferred to skip. We took a ferry from Tortola to Virgin Gorda to The Baths....it was not to be missed. It was amazing. We did not take the ship excursion. We went on Speedy's Ferry and it was very reliable and less than the Carnival offering in price. In St Tomas we went over to St John for snorkeling at Trunk Bay...another good choice...just catch the Red Hook ferry over and there are lots of taxis to Trunk Bay. In St Maarten we went to The Dive Shop in Phillipsburg and had the best time on their dive boat snorkeling and watching the planes come in over Maho Beach, a real experience! We did get spoiled milk from room service and my daughter got food poisoning (horrible vomiting and diarrhea). We met others with the same situation. Thankfully this happened on the last day of the cruise. The drinks we ordered at various places around the ship were not good. They use the cheap mixes for Margaritas....the frozen may have been better. The frozen Pina Colada was good and Chocolate Mocha Getaway was good. Good luck if you choose the Sunshine....not awful just not good!

Cabin Review

Port side Aft BalconyWould recommend forward rather than aft cabins due to diesel fumes and cooking smell from galley. Was very quiet though!
