Have cruised many times with several different lines but hadn't been on a Carnival in over 30 years. We only booked it because the price was very low. Everyone else had the same idea. Not sure where this crowd came from but it was entertaining. The ship itself is very old and needs much improvement. The water on board is horrible. Bring your own bottled water or pay for the overpriced on board. Had a couple of days where the water in your rooms and in public areas was brownish. The Mongolian grill, which is only open for a couple of hours is the best food we have ever had on a cruise ship. Fresh (what a concept ) cooked to order and when they say spicy, it's really spicy. This we loved all else was not good. The buffet was terrible accept for salads. The main dining was entertaining but the food portions were very small and overcooked. Entertainment was very lame. The cruise director did his job by saying how great it was but you could tell his heart was not into it. The art auction was fun but they make the buyer feel that he/she is getting a signed piece of art when in fact it's a reproduction and basically a xeroxed signature. I questioned them on this but they stood their ground. Ridiculous pricing on the art they said was a bargain. West Point was the auctioneer, they only cared about commission. One lucky winner of a free piece told me later they pressured her into buying a $250 frame that she didn't want. Carnival always has something going on but unless it's your first cruise you see right through it.

Cabin review:

This was the first time we did an inside room and this part of the cruise was very good. Big room. Very quiet. No fridge but plenty of ice. Room steward was efficient. We had to leave the bathroom door open or the bathroom smelled like cat pee. We heard several others say the same. It's just an old, tired ship that needs to be dry docked or refurbished.

Port and Shore Excursions

Port

There really is nothing here but tourist trap type shopping. Everything is overpriced and not much to do. Stay on the ship and enjoy having to yourselves.

Private island of Carnival and I believe others. Your disembark is delayed so the ship can bring the same food and drinks on the ship to the island. The beach is beautiful. The sand feels like flour. Really enjoyed the ambiance. This was our second time here and loved it even more the second time around. No dock, need tender. This was very slow.

Port

Never have been a fan of Nassau. We did walk around because it has been so long since we were here. The only thing that seems to have changed was the prices. Very high and no negotiating. It was way different than what we experienced before. Not into cheap straw crap and the vendors are overbearing. Nothing worth buying here. The rum that was supposed to be special was not very good. However, the rum cake was outstanding.
