Just returned from a fabulous week on the Getaway. We usually cruise on Oceania, Crystal, Regent and Silverseas. I can say that being in the Haven is as good as those as far as service and Comfort. At the pool area we never had more than 30-40 people, and the lounges accommodate more than 100 persons. The Heaven Restaurant is outstanding. The Haven rooms are outstanding and very comfortable. The Suites in the Haven and Penthouse forward facing and Aft facing are extremely large and very well appointed.
FOOD: the speciality Restaurants are very good. Our least favorite was Modeno. The bistro was very good as was the Teppanyaki, Cagney's and La Cucina. We did not eat in a Ocean Blue, as the charge seemed unnecessary, with the others being covered in the dining package, which by the way if you plan to eat in the speciality restaurants, is the way to go. We Also ate some breakfasts and lunches in the Dining Room-Taste, which was very good. Most of our Breakfasts were taken in the Haven. I read a lot about the food. We are very particular in the restaurants we eat in on Cruise ships, but honestly everything was great, including the Garden Buffet.
SHOWS: The Illusionarium magic show was the best magic show we have ever seen. As good as any show in Las Vegas. The food was fine. Our only complaint was dinner is served during the show, so it is hard to eat and watch the show at the same time. Burn the Floor and Legally blond were very good also.
SlIDES: loved them. The lines were never a problem. The General pool area on Decks 15 and 16 are very crowded and at times difficult to find lounge chairs.
Embarkation was a breeze. Note you cannot board before 11:30 am. We arrived in the terminal at 10:45 and filled out 5 minutes of forms, waited until our group was called then boarded. Very fast , well organized and efficient.
Overall The Getaway is a beautiful ship, very attentive crew, great food and fabulous entertainment. We will definitely be back on the Getaway or Breakaway.
