Flew to Rome via jet 2, transfers and check in all very efficient. The stateroom was as expected having cruised previously on the Reflection, Equinox and Eclipse. Although in the bathroon the toilet seat was badly stained around the rim seat and the toilet not very clean under the rim. It was pointed out to the attendant and the seat was changed, I should not have had to do this. The first of Celebrity cutbacks is evident in the bathroom they have changed the toiletries to a cheaper brand and no longer supply shower gel, but supply body lotion, cannot see the logic in this. The Ocean View Cafe is the same as the other Solstice class ships and cannot fault the range of buffet food and service. The same cannot be said of the Main Dinning Room. In the evening out of the entire cruise we had about three decent meals, the quality of the food was quite poor and the service slow, more the fault of the kitchen staff than the Waiters. I cannot comment on the speciality restaurants as do not use them. I do not think you should have to pay for better food and service when the dinning is supposed to be five star.

The entertainment is another area of cutbacks the activities staff has been reduced to two people Pete who is British, and Martin a Belgium lad, both were pleasant enough but the activities were cut to a minimum Trivia Quiz sessions were few and far between, Deck activities non existent apart from Pool Olympics which they repeated and very little in the evenings around the ship, not even a late night deck party .The Cruise Director Ian Creswell was conspicuous by his absence around the ship, and was less informative on the nights he did decide to appear to introduce the act in the theatre. The Guest Entertainers is one area where Celebrity have improved.Highlights being Lyndsay Hamilton and Ancora.

After docking in Venice early morning for an overnight stay before disembarkation there was no Goodbye
