My wife and I just returned from celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary on the RCI Allure of the Seas. A great experience all around. The ship was stunning, impeccably clean and well laid out. Easy to find everything and more than enough to do. The quality of service was excellent-- as good or better than we've ever had on RCI (previously sailed on the Freedom and Mariner). Food quality was consistently very high in the dining room--didn't feel any real need to venture out to the specialty restaurants, although we did go to Chops one night--very, very good. The entertainment on the ship was top grade. The quality and talent level of dancers, musicians (groups and soloists alike), divers, acrobats, skaters, etc., was easily equivalent to those on Broadway or Vegas. Ventriloquist Ronn Lucas was exceptionally talented, and comedian Bob Golub was absolutely hilarious. He particularly shined in the farewell show, able to improvise freely with whatever situation came his way.
One complaint we had was in regard to the cruise director, Ken Rush. He was just too focused upon the sales of additional merchandise and services--far more than we remember from previous RCI cruise directors. He also seemed to take over a lot of activities we recall other directors having delegated to the staff a bit more. That said, it didn't affect our overall cruise experience. We had a great time and will definitely sail again on RCI.
