The Epic is a beautiful ship! Took my grandson for his 13th birthday. Loved the decor. I had been on one other NCL cruise in 2009 to Egypt - NCL Jade - was a bit frightening with its decor and service. I must say that of all the cruise ships I have sailed - this has got to be the one with the BEST Show Productions! The shows alone are well worth getting on the ship. Very organized in obtaining tickets to these shows. Another plus for the Epic is the food. Excellent everywhere you go. It is a budget cruiseline so you will be nickel and dime to death! The cabins are very spacious - large closet and storage areas. The largest casino I have seen yet on a ship. No winners, though!
La Moderna Churrascaria - Excellent! Must try.
Ocho Rios Jamaica - we had gone before and were a little hesitant to go ashore at first. Glad we did. It has changed dramatically. The streets are repaired and there is so much security everywhere you go.
Pool - if you like the pool, this is not the ship. It has two shoe box sized pools in the middle and one adults only shoe size pool in the back. The slides are perhaps the alternative. The slides do not end any pool. The Haven has its own small pool.
Cabins - beautiful cabins, very modern but lack privacy. The manner in which the bathroom area was designed does not allow for private use of the shower or toilet. As you enter the cabin, the shower is on one side and the toilet on the other. As you continue to enter the cabin, you reach the sink and closet. A curtain provides separation from the back of the cabin to the front. In other words, no one can leave or enter the cabin if you are using the shower or toilet. You are not able to open the door if room service arrives if another is using the shower or toilet. Shower and toilet are each enclosed with a light fogged plastic door. Silhouettes in color can be seen through them. Very uncomfortable set up.
TV in cabins - very very small. Not much choice in viewing channels. They don't want you in there.
Drinks - Completely disappointed. All drinks are watered down extensively or minimal alcohol is added. Average $6-$10. Not one drink - not even the daily special was good. About the 3rd day we stopped ordering. Would purchase cocktails on shore. NCL is a cruiseline that treats their passengers like criminals if they board with wine much less a small bottle of spirits. Our NCL Jade trip was the most embarrassing. Most ships have a no alcohol policy but a bottle or two is certainly allowed. NOT NCL. I'm surprised mouthwash is allowed on board!!
EPIC..beautiful ship....drinks and cabin design will not bring me back.
