I was really looking forward to this trip as it would start almost literally in our back yard and we wouldn't need to travel more than 10 minutes by car to get to the ship.
Everything started off very well until we got to our cabin. Our kids had arrange for a couple of bon voyage gifts for us and a couple of gifts for me for the next day which would be Mother's Day.
Something had gone wrong and everything was there when we arrived. The gifts were one plate of choc covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne for our bon voyage and a beverage card and a plate of the choc strawberries for Mother's Day. Trying to eat all the strawberries before they started to mould became our goal for the first couple of days since they were very ripe and having them a day separate would have been better.
The champagne was not cooled when we arrived and getting our hands on some ice was a problem. The ice bucket was filled with water.
We had one huge problem during our cruise, namely - our toilet hardly ever flushed. This was extremely embarrassing since we didn't realize it wouldn't flush until it was too late, if you get my drift.
Each time we complained about the non-flushing toilet, we received the same platitudes and even after a new vacuum system was installed, it still didn't help. Up till the last morning this issue was still not solved.
We had already booked a new cruise for next year before we left on this 7 night cruise to Norway but we are seriously considering canceling it. We had the feeling that we were only being strung along and our complaint not taken seriously.
I have complained about the above via the survey that we received after the cruise but we will probably never hear anything further.
Their so-called 'signature of excellence' seems to be slipping.
