CARIBBEAN PRINCESS October 29, 2006 Before I start this report, I must say of all the cruises I have been on this year, this was by far the most fun of them all. Before this year started I had been on 28 cruise. This is my fourth cruise of the year, so now I have been on 32 cruises. Since most cruises do most things right, I am going to start with the things they don't do right. THE BAD This ship has by far the worst DINING ROOM SERVICE AND FOOD of any ship I have ever been on. The wait for anytime dining is usually at least 30 mins. Then after you have been seated, dinner takes at least 2.5 hours because the service is so slow and they get everything on your order wrong. Then because the service is so slow ALL THE FOOD IS COLD AND HAS NO TASTE AT ALL. PRINCESS CANNOT DO ANYTIME DINING, the definite leader in anytime dining is NCL. If you don't want to wait everyday and you want to make reservations the only times they have available are the same as the set time dining. I had the chance to dine in the set time dining room and the service and food was much better. SO DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND JUST ASK FOR SET TIME DINING ON THIS SHIP. The food and service in the dining room was very much like a Carnival ship. A part of the problem is the EXTRA 500 PEOPLE ON THIS PRINCESS SHIP THAT THE OTHER PRINCESS SHIPS DO NOT HAVE.

On the Caribbean Princess they ADDED AN EXTRA DECK OF CABINS WHICH ADDS 500 PEOPLE TO THE SAME SIZE SHIP. You can really feel the extra 500 people in the dining room, buffet and show theater. Along the same line, the SHOW THEATER only fits 800 PEOPLE, so it was always crowded and MANY PEOPLE COULDNT FIND ANY SEATS EVERYDAY. Come on, a ship that has 3500 passengers but can only seat 1600 people total in the 2 shows. This must be the part of the ship Carnival designed. The ENTERTAINMENT on this ship is not too good. They have only 1 very good comedian. Also PIANO MAN is very good, but otherwise skip the entertainment Can anyone believe that ICE CREAM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR 1 HOUR PER DAY ON THIS SHIP. That is so ridiculous on a family friendly ship. Also by the time they give you the ice cream it is all melting and it tastes so terrible. I have never seen this on any other cruise ship. Come on Princess you can do better than this even if you are owned by Carnival. I have read people on here rave about Sabatini's Trattoria on this ship. I paid 80 for 4 people to eat at this restaurant and must say THIS IS THE WORST SPECIALTY RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER EATEN AT. They say it is a 20 course meal, that is if you count a pepperoni as 1 course. Basically THEY RECYCLE THE SAME TERRIBLE FOOD FROM THE MAIN DINING ROOM and call it Italian food. THE FOOD AT Sabatini's Trattoria IS TERRIBLE, skip it and save your money. The buffet has much better food and is free. Even the free specialty restaurants on NCL are much better than Sabatini's Trattoria.

THE GOOD The BUFFET IS EXCELLENT ESPECIALLY THE DINNER SEAFOOD BUFFET they have 3 nights. King crab, lobster and shrimps all you can eat. All I can say is wow. The LUNCH BUFFET IS ALSO EXCELLENT, they have a different theme everyday. Also the variety of food offered is much more than any other cruise line buffet. BY FAR THE BEST BUFFET I HAVE SEEN ON A SHIP.
