We just returned from a glorious cruise on board the Mariner of the Seas. It was our first members cruise and our first Diamond Level cruise. We were amazed by all of the wonderful treats the staff bestowed on us. First of all the ship was a delightful experience (we are spoiled by the Voyage Class ships). Mariner is not decorated as elaborately as her sister Explorer, which we were told happens to be the most expensive ship Rccl has ever made but nonetheless, she was beautiful.

Our cabin was on deck 9 and was a D1 category. We could definitely tell a difference in the placement of the balcony, it made the whole room seem more spacious. We also had the convenience of being mid-ship, which placed us within steps of the Concierge Club!! They served us hors d'ouvres and drinks every evening from 5 to 8:30. This was a great way to meet other Diamond members and compare notes. Our Concierge attendant, Diane was so sweet and fun to cut up with and although she had her hands full with over 200 Diamond members, she always had a good attitude and was very patient with some very demanding patrons. Good job Diane!!

The shows on the Mariner were entertaining, but we've seen and experienced better on other ships. The lounges had a good variety of music, our favorite being the jazz club in the crown viking lounge area. The Dragon's Lair could be a fun party spot, but as usual disappointed us with a mediocre mix of music. Almost put us to sleep!! How about some top 40 dance music?? The ice show was the best ever, we were thoroughly impressed, the skaters were top notch and the show was excellent!!
