Back today from a week on the Dream around the Med. Now This was our 4th time on the Dream, the last 3 times all having problems (sewage flooding, heating in cabin, no water you name it) anyhow The last time we was on the Dream was 2011. We have been on the Spirit and Celebration since & never had a problem (6 cruises on these two ships ) After reading the previous reviews about the ship, broken sun chairs , cold food etc. we went ready for the worst and probably our last time on this ship. Anyhow I'll cut straight to the chase, the flight & all the agg of getting to Palma was 100% smooth in fact we was on the ship by 10.30am. We went straight to the cabin knowing that it is not normally available until around 2pm but was very happily surprised when we went straight in and it was ready. (I can only assume Thomson now actually check names and flight time arrivals for cabins and get the staff to work on these cabins first and then in flight order etc. so well done Thomson's on that note) We have had cabins on deck 5,7.10 & now this one deck 6 (cabin 6090) We picked it and paid the £39 extra to secure it, reason being it is two flights from the bar we use (Medusa) The cabin as always was spotless & the cabin steward Joemar a nice lad. We walked the ship and noticed straight away that they had brought back from the transatlantic 2 weeks earlier all new sun loungers.

We was all inclusive but yet again this is where Thomson's have got it so wrong. I have watched over the years all the extras or drinks removed from the A/I & I just cannot see the reason for it "ie" sex on the beach was free on the A/I a few years ago but it then went to a charge regardless of you already paying £398 for the all inc' (ps if you decide when on the ship to upgrade to all inc' after viewing the bar prices you will then have the pleasure of paying £450) Anyhow this years change was all tins of fizzy pop are only by the glass and it is a small glass, if you want a large glass of say coke you will have to pay the charge regardless of being on the A/I package, If you ask for a tin of fizzy drink, again we will say coke you will be charged. Now I have my own thoughts as to why this is, is it because there was a big deal with out of date tins on you tube not so long ago on the Thomson Celebration ? I actually looked at the date stamp of the bottles of Coke and they went out of date next week so there ya go just a thought, This years shocker was I asked for a Glass of irn-bru, now this was again just a tin or as I had asked just a glass of fizzy drink yet I was told I would have to pay as it was not on the A/I package, absolutely crazy.

The food is still very hit or miss as in hot or warm, timing here seems to be the answer, watch and wait, as soon as they open is always a good start. This is a ship catering for UK people, was there a roast at anytime all week..? naa certainly not in the self service restaurant's anyway. The potatoes were always hard and not cooked, choice of food not good for a supposedly platinum ship, I have to say on this note we have been with P&O in the last few years 7 times & the food is honestly 10 times better yet Thomson's want the same money !! for totally café food, that is of course unless you are happy to pay another £13- 20 quid a meal pp to eat steak under the stars...If you are thinking of a cruise not to formal think about other companies. The only pull back to Thomson's is there staff who are without a doubt the best out there. Just a quick note, when we looked at this cruise where I paid £117 pppn all inc' we could of gone on P & O Azura with the free on-board spending money they offered which also worked out at £117 pppn..balcony cabin as well, We had our reasons for not going this time with P & O and chose Thomson's but I think this is our last cruise with them unless things change. All said and done we had a good time the cabin is a good one. The staff made our holiday so just in case they do read this review Many thanks to Rico, Sacar, Lito, Wendall & Ronald, & Rony the waiter for a 100% friendly service, without these kind of people Thomson's cruises would be long gone like Ocean Village.

Cabin Review

Cabin 6090 is a good size cabin with a bath, shower over and a flexi shower hose as well as the bath over, it is located next to the lifts very quiet and central on the ship, out of the 5 cabins we have had this was the best. we have had 5111 deck 5,(inside) ..1022 deck 10 (deluxe) 6069 (inside) 7080 (outside plus)
