This was a fairly enjoyable trip. There were some very good points: It was out of Houston, only a short drive from home; the price was very right $1500 for two and a balcony; Really loved the itinerary the first day at sea then 3 stops and two days at sea coming back.
We enjoyed the ships amenities the movie under the stars was a neat concept, The movie theater was nice. We loved the humorous piano player. (can’t remember his name). The wine bar was incredible with two great people Ryan and Kelvin, They made us feel at home and were incredibly nice the whole time. The ship was in good shape yes you could see some use but it was not bad. The ship is getting refitted right now.
Now the not so good: The food in the dining room dinner was not very good. There was always something at every meal that was not right. Ceviche that tasted like fishy fish with a little lime squeezed over it, Tomato soup that tasted exactly like the previous nights marinara sauce, Prime rib that was a long way from prime. It is obvious from the food in the buffet that they know how to cook because that food was wonderful, simple but great.
The service around the pool and bars was terrible. I found out why when I returned home. You have to tip cash or they will not come back to you. They seem to not receive the tips you add to the tab. We found one person that returned frequently and we found him on the next to the last day.
There are absolutely no sports on the ship and no one to help get them going when they were scheduled. I am used to lots of games and sports around the pool. Nothing on this trip.
Sorry I will be going back to Royal Caribbean next time.
