Easter week was our 15th Princess cruise and it was on the Royal.  In most respects the ship and the voyage were awesome with a few issues. The food and service were exceptional as usual but there are distractions for what should have been minor issues.

The biggest things were the miniscule balconies, lack of stairs amidships and slow elevators. The 1st 2 have been discussed by anyone who has blogged and I will not go into that further.

Whoever programmed the Piazza view elevators to stop at every deck and to disconnect the Door Close buttons on all elevators made some very poor decisions. These actions slow down the already too slow and too small elevators and the decision to to implement these actions should be reconsidered.

I have used my lap top computer without difficulty on at lease 7 previous Princess cruises without difficulty. On the Royal, it took a hour and some gyrations by the IT Cafe manager to get it to work at all. The IT programmers More fixed something that was not broken and made the round wheel square. Someone complained to me that the system on the Royal could not get their emails from some of thew Canadian email providers.

One of thew secondary computer systems went down. Among other things it controlled the token dispensers in all the laundromats. That computer used the XP obsolete Operating System. After 2 call and a visit to the Purser's desk, someone came and sold me the necessary tokens. They then got some of the tokens for sale at the Purser's desk (my suggestion in the 1st place). Duh!

Otherwise the ship is magnificence. I cannot understand why Princess would allow minorissues to distract from the outstanding food and service.

While the miniscule balconies and too small elevators cannot be easily fixed, the other issues can be. There are midship stairs that can be decorated to look like regular stairs with safety doors, the elevators can be reprogrammed, the secondary computer system for the laundry tokens can be upgraded, the Purser's desk can have a supply of tokens and the internet connection system can be fixxed. Cabin review:

Very nice and certainly large enough. The balcony is too small.
